tl;dr – A shakeup is coming to the Savannah luxury hotel scene.
Developers recently broke ground on the construction of a new Ritz-Carlton hotel in Savannah, Georgia. The Ritz-Carlton Savannah, Downtown, is scheduled to open in early 2028.

Savannah, Georgia is one of those cities that, alongside Charleston, really OD’d on funneling money to the Conde Nast’s of the world. For the longest time, it felt like Savannah was the top of every ‘you-just-have-to-visit-this-little-ole-city-didn’t-you-know?-I-mean-everyone-and-their-mama-is-going-why-aren’t-you’-type of list.
The hotel will be housed in a building known as the “Savannahs Skyscraper.” According to the property’s developers, TMGOC Ventures, the “full-service luxury hotel will feature a signature restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, a lobby lounge, a members-only Club, a roof-top bar and pool, a 5,000-square-foot spa and wellness facility, and more than 5,000 square feet of meeting space.”
Original plans for the project included the development of Ritz-Carlton-branded residences, but it appears those plans have been scrapped, and at least some of the space designated for those no-longer-happening units has been used to increase guestroom capacity.\
The Ritz-Carlton Savannah, Downtown, upon its debut, could become the city’s most luxurious property, though admittedly that’s not saying much, as Savannah’s roster isn’t super deep. At present, the two most notable upscale points properties in the city are also members of Marriott Bonvoy – the JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District and the Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Savannah
