89-Room Capella Florence Opening 2027

Source: You Are Travel

Tl;dr – The buzzy hotel brand will open its first European property in 2027, in the land of the Médici.

Over the past several years, Florence’s luxury hotel scene has quietly grown quite a bit, and the popular Italian city now boasts outposts from Auberge Resorts Collection, Belmond, Four Seasons, and Rocco Forte. On the luxury points-hotel front, you have the St. Regis Florence, Il Tornabuoni from Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, the Hotel Cerretani Florence from Accor’s MGallery, in addition to a host of smaller boutiques from Mrs. & Mrs. Smith and SLH, bookable on Hyatt and Hilton respectively. Capella Hotels will soon join this list, as Capella Florence – the brand’s first European hotel (and its first hotel outside of Asia (including West Asia) and Oceania) will come to market in 2027. Let’s take a peek!

The Capella Florence

A stone’s throw from Piazza della Libertà, the Capella Florence will come to life in a 12th-century building that has previously been a convent, military hospital, and artist’s studio. Of the hotel’s 89 rooms, 33 of them will be suites, with 56 traditional guest rooms. In case you plan on moving in, 10 residences are also planned for the development.

Regarding charm, there will be a rooftop bar that offers views of the classic Florentine skyline and its auburn rooftops, as well as the famed centerpiece, the Duomo.

The current plans include two restaurants: one serving local Italian cuisine and another offering Japanese cuisine. There will also be a wine-focused speakeasy on site.

For relaxation after a day of sightseeing, guests can retreat to the 600 sqm Capella Spa with a hydro pool and fitness center.

Capella, as a brand, has been in the news a lot of late. In 2024, the chain’s Bangkok property was recently named the best hotel in the world, and Capella recently debuted the Patina Osaka, the second location of its sister brand.

If you’re a luxury traveler with plans to visit Florence in the next couple of years, this is one to keep your eyes on.
