This isn’t everything that’s gone down, but it’s enough to get you up to speed. Here are some of the major developments we’ve seen at Alaska Airlines over the last few months to a year.
Corporate Development, Loyalty Program

- Alaska acquired Hawaiian Airlines. Hawaiian Airlines is set to join the oneworld alliance in early 2026.
- Alaska rebranded its loyalty program to Atmos Rewards: The Mileage Plan loyalty program is now Atmos Rewards, which combines elements of Alaska’s and Hawaiian Airlines’ loyalty programs.
- The new loyalty program has revamped status tiers – Silver, Gold, Platinum, and a new Titanium tier.
- Starting in 2026, members can choose to earn elite status by distance traveled, miles flown, or a new segment-based system.
Credit Cards

- The Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card has transitioned to the Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature, with new benefits like free Starlink Wi-Fi and milestone rewards coming in 2026.
Aircraft & Cabin Upgrades, Lounges & In-Flight Experience

- Alaska’s 737 fleet is receiving updated cabin interiors, including new seats with device holders and USB-C ports.
- The airline will deploy Starlink Wi-Fi across its fleet, beginning in 2026.
- New Livery: A new, Aurora Borealis-inspired livery has been rolled out on the airline’s 787 Dreamliner widebody aircraft.
- Pet Policy: As of June 5, 2025, only dogs and cats are permitted to travel in the cabin on all Alaska Airlines flights.
- The airline is increasing its premium seat mix on its Boeing narrowbody fleet to 29% and planning to expand Premium Class on its widebody fleet.
- Reserved Overhead Bin Space: Reserved overhead bin placards are being added for Premium Class passengers to designate carry-on luggage space.
- Expanded Lounges: The airline is expanding its Lounge program with new locations planned for San Diego and Honolulu, and an international lounge for Seattle by 2027
