Airbus has identified a potentially flawed mechanism affecting its A320 fleet. Airbus uncovered some recent findings that suggest solar radiation could affect data necessary for flight control operations.
The aircraft manufacturer has issued an AOT (alert operator transmission) and is working with aviation authorities to implement software and hardware fixes to hopefully alleviate the issue. These initiatives will be documented as an Emergency Airworthiness Directive issued by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Here’s hoping that there are no safety incidents and any additional disruptions to travel can be minimized in short order.
