tl;dr – Part of the airline’s charge to upgrade its lounges in many locations.

American Airlines is making upgrades to its Admirals Club lounge in Concourse D at Reagan National Airport (DCA).

The renovated lounge will add 50% more seating and, upon its reopening, will span more than 10,000 square feet.

According to American Airlines, “the redesigned lounge will take design inspiration from the city, including local design elements that reflect the rich history of Washington, D.C. It will also feature airside views of the United States Capitol and Washington Monument.”

The Admirals Clubs in Concourses C and E will remain open while D is under construction.

American Airlines is making several upgrades to lounges at many of its hub airports. There’s a Flagship Lounge planned for Charlotte (CLT) and a revamp (including a new location) of its Flagship Lounge in Miami (MIA).
