Another Aman (or Janu) Destined for Miami? Seems Possible!

tl;dr – Aman owner Vlad Doronin makes a big purchase.

Aman owner Vlad Doronin has just (alongside other partners) completed the single largest land acquisition in Florida. Said to be the “last remaining developable site of this scale in Brickell,” the deal is a $520 million purchase of Aimco’s 4.25-acre waterfront parcel, with 485 feet of continuous Biscayne Bay frontage.

I’d be hard pressed to believe that one of Doronin’s hotel brands – Aman or Janu – isn’t pegged for part of the development. According to Business Wire, the first phases of the development will be a hotel and branded condominiums (sounds like a classic Aman move), and the overall site “is zoned for over three million square feet of development, allowing for multiple towers that can rise up to 1,049 feet.”

Thus, while the multiple towers could very well be other hotels or condos – that’s actually very similar to the upcoming Aspen project, which is said to feature both an Aman resort, and another non-Aman (though possibly still Doronin-invovled) property.

OKO Group (owner of the Aman brand) already has the Aman Miami Beach, so my initial thought is that this could be a splashy debut for the Janu brand in the US. Janu is positioned as ‘Aman’s more social, soulful sibling brand,’ and ‘social and soulful’ could be fair ways to describe Miami.
