Tl;dr – You can now reserve your stay at the first-ever all-inclusive W brand hotel in Punta Cana. Reservations are available beginning June 2025.
Earlier this year, I reported on all the new hotel openings we’d expect to see throughout the year in the always-popular Dominican Republic market. As there’s been a positive update on the progress of one notable property, I wanted to pass it along. Marriott will open its first-ever all-inclusive W hotel, the W Punta Cana, in June 2025. Let’s jump into the details.
The W Punta Cana – All-Inclusive, Adults Only
The W Punta Cana will have a pretty deep capacity—340 guestrooms, suites, and villas in total, some of which will be swim-ups or equipped with private balconies and plunge pools. You won’t go hungry at this property, as there are fifteen dining outlets, and as mentioned, it’s all-inclusive, so get those extra crunches in before you visit and pack the stretch bathing suit.
The W Punta Cana is an adults-only property, and the team has done a good job crafting the amenity spaces to reflect this. In addition to 1500 square feet of fitness space, there’s a full-service AWAY spa, which offers both passive and active wet zones, a relaxation area, ten treatment rooms, and a beauty salon.
From the looks of things, guests will also be able to enjoy three distinct pool areas and the stunning Punta Cana beach.
We haven’t received an updated press release from Marriott; thus, we’re still operating off the construction renderings, although many more have been added to the property’s website.
Have a look:
Not bad, eh?
Marriott’s Bet on a New All-Inclusive Strategy
It will be interesting to see how this property is received by all-inclusive enthusiasts, as this property, along with the recently announced first-ever all-inclusive JW Marriott Costa Rica (expected 2026), represent the first two tests of Marriott’s revamped strategy for attacking the all-inclusive market. I’ve covered how Hyatt has been feasting on mid-to-upscale all-inclusive brands to great success over the last few years. Marriott, to date, has relied on partnerships with chains like Royalton and Elegant Resorts to round out their mid-tier all-inclusive portfolio in the Caribbean and Latin America. To compete more aggressively in the luxury segment, Marriott is betting on the name recognition of two homegrown brands – the W and JW Marriott – and is opening up the portfolio of these two Bonvoy icons to include some all-inclusive locations. The hope, of course, is that fans of these properties will be enticed to try out these familiar brands in a ‘one-price’ format while enjoying the sun and fun of the tropics. I’m not big into all-inclusive resorts at any price point, but seeing how this all plays out will be interesting.
What About Pricing?
I almost forgot. The newly published rates at the W Punta Cana have come in slightly higher than expected back when I first wrote about the property in January. The lowest cash rate I could find was $740 for a base-level room in the post-labor day lull. Rates peak at $1425 right around New Year’s.
For points, the lowest available rate is 137,000 points per night in early June (though this might be a soft-opening special as I couldn’t find rates anywhere in that arena again). Otherwise, point rates range between 209,000 and 233,000 points per night.
Conclusion
If you’re looking for some time in the sun and fancy an easy trip to the D.R., you can now book a room at the first-ever all-inclusive W hotel in Punta Cana. Hit the comments if you’re thinking of checking this property out soon. Fifteen restaurants IS crazy.
