tl;dr – China Airlines is launching StayMiles.

China Airlines recently partnered with Rocket Travel by Agoda to launch a global hotel booking platform, enabling travelers to earn and redeem StayMiles, for their hotel stays.

Rocket Travel is essentially the white-labeled version of Rocketmiles – the original consumer-facing hotel booking site for earning miles when you book stays. Rocket Travel powers the hotel booking platforms for several airlines, such as American Airlines (AAdvantage Hotels) and, recently, WestJet (WestJet Hotels). Interestingly, this program seems to work a bit differently here as StayMiles appear to not be the same currency as China Airline’s recently revamped Dynasty Miles.

This move also seems to be part of a strategic push by the carrier to be more ‘competitive’ and more ‘global’. Taiwan is a competitive market as three quality carriers – EVA Air, Starlux, and China Airlines – all call the island home.

China Airlines recently launched the ability to buy, gift, and reinstate Dynasty Miles with Plusgrade, and linked up with Southwest Airlines for an international partnership. The Dynasty Miles loyalty program itself was revamped late last year.
