Citi Continues Premier Cards Devaluation, Dropping Cash Back Redemption Ratio

Source: Tenor

Tl;dr – Using Citi ThankYou Points for cashback redemptions is now 25% less valuable

The other week, I wrote about Citi’s devaluation of Emirates Skywards transfers. Well, more changes are coming to Citi’s Premier card line, affecting cash back this time. Earlier today, I received the following email (I’m a Citi Strata Premier cardholder):

10,000 ThankYou Points will now get you $75 instead of $100. The one exception to this is for Citi cashback cardholders, chiefly the Double Cash or Custom Cash cards. You’ll still be able to redeem at the original 10,000:$100 ratio.

I’m not a huge cashback fan, so the chances of me redeeming any ThankYou Points I accumulate for cash are pretty nonexistent. That said, for folks who simply want to cash out their ThankYou points balance, whether large or small, you’ll want to do so before August 27, 2025, to take advantage of the more favorable 10,000:$100 ratio.
