tl;dr – The first 737-800NG plane that will carry both passengers and cargo has taken to the skies.

Air Inuit recently introduced the world’s first 737-800NG combi plane into service. The retrofitted aircraft, which has been configured for both passengers and freight, was recently certified by Transport Canada and took its inaugural flight on January 13, 2026, on the Montréal-Kuujjuaq route.

The plane’s cargo partition, in the front of the aircraft, can accommodate five pallets. The rear section of the plan is where you’ll find the 90–seat passenger cabin in the aft section.

Serving the people of Nunavik, this ‘combi’ will soon be joined by two others in the Air Inuit fleet.
