tl;dr – A new luxury hotel in Rome.

Boutique luxury hotel chain Corinthia will open its first property in Italy, in none other than the Eternal City, Rome.

Located within the Campo Marzio neighbourhood, the 60-room (including 21 suites) hotel is a remodel of the former headquarters of the Bank of Italy, and puts guests at the doorstep of many of Rome’s most famous monuments and points of interest, such as the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain.

There are three food and beverage outlets: Ocra Bar, Viride, the hotel’s signature restaurant, and Piazzetta, an all-day spot.

The hotel’s spa, which is located in the former vault of the bank, is where guests can retreat after a day seeing the sights.

I checked rates for its second week of opening, and a base level King room costs €1,295 per night. An advance purchase right will save you €129.

If you’re unfamiliar with Corinthia hotels, it’s a family-run (Pisani) Maltese chain that currently operates 10 full-on hotel properties, and a few other adjacent hospitality ventures (Yacht Club, Golf Club). There are a handful of other properties in the pipeline.

Rome has no shortage of luxury hotels, but it will be interesting to see where this new Corinthia property settles in amongst the more glamorous outlets.
