tl;dr - IHG is back with another points sale, offering a 100% bonus on purchases of 11,000 or more points. This sale is a solid opportunity to save money on future pricey cash rate reservations, or top off your points balance to make an immediate reservation.


Most leading hotel chains offer regular opportunities to purchase discounted points, usually a few times a year. Well, through the end of the month, February 28, 2025, you can scoop up IHG points with a 100% bonus. I cover buying points in greater detail in this intro to points and miles primer, but I'm a big fan of purchasing points as there are always immediate opportunities to save money on hotel stays you know you're planning to do.

It's worth mentioning that IHG is seemingly always selling points throughout the year (and usually with a 100% bonus), so if this sale work for you, there will be plenty more opportunities to purchase points.

How Do You Purchase IHG Points?

  1. Visit IHG.com and click on "IHG One Rewards" in the right corner, to log into your account. On the next page, scroll down to find and select "Choose from two ways to buy points."

  1. On the next page, scroll down to find "Stock up for travel" and select "Buy now." On the following page, "Buy points."


  1. Once you're on Points.com storefront, you can select how many points you want to purchase from the dropdown menu. Follow the prompts from there to checkout and finish your purchase.

What are Some Good Uses of IHG One Rewards?

If you went all-in and purchased 200,000 points, you'd have a total of 400,000 IHG points, with which you can do some damage. Admittedly, I'm not the most frequent IHG Hotels & Resorts guest but there are most definitely some gems in the chain's portfolio. For instance, you can visit Grand Cayman and stay right on Seven Mile Beach at the Kimpton Seafire Resort and Spa.
