tl;dr – Some random snooping revealed this property will soon switch loyalty programs.
I was looking into hotel options in New Orleans, and while searching Marriott’s offerings (via map view) I noticed something interesting. The Eliza Jane popped up in the search results, indicating that the hotel will be joining Marriott’s Autograph Collection later this month.

Situated just a few blocks from the French Quarter, the Eliza Jane has been a go-to option for Hyatt loyalists visiting the city, since its debut in 2018.

At one point, the hotel was bookable with a Category 1-4 Free Night Award (it’s now a Category 5). Currently, the Eliza Jane is part of Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection and remains listed on Hyatt’s website.

However, it does appear that a change is imminent. I searched for availability at the Eliza Jane on multiple dates after March 25, 2025, and received the following message a few times:

As of now, the property is not bookable through Marriott. When you try to click through to the property on Marriott’s website, it errors out.

I stayed at the Eliza Jane back in 2024, and a few years prior to that, I booked a stay for my mother at the property. Both times I received strong elite recognition and was upgraded to one of the property’s literary suites when I stayed.

Separately, Hyatt’s Unbound Collection is a bit all over the place. This range of upscale independent properties is wide. You have properties like the Hôtel du Palais Biarritz, and IL Tornabuoni Hotel in the same portfolio with properties like Spirit Ridge, Kissel Oakland, and the Hotel Kansas City. Not knocking those last three properties – I’ve stayed at each of them and enjoyed my experiences. If ever there were a chain that needed ‘yet another hotel brand,’ it’s Hyatt. The Unbound Collection is too much of a catchall for upscale independents and, similar to Marriott (Luxury Collection, Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio) and Hilton (LXR, Curio, Tapestry), some partitioning here could be helpful. I’ve mentioned this before (and I’ll touch upon this in another piece shortly), but I think Hyatt is going to make a rather significant luxury-ish acquisition sometime soon. I have no intel – it’s just a feeling. Whether that comes to fruition, and whether such a move would help sort out the Unbound Collection? Time will tell!
