Hilton to Open Curio Collection Hotel in Kyoto

tl;dr – This will be a conversion of an existing property.

Hilton recently inked a deal to add another Japanese property to its Curio Collection. Scheduled for a 2028 debut, the Kyoto Brighton Hotel will join the Curio Collection by Hilton.

The Brighton Hotel will undergo a full renovation prior to its conversion. Upon its reemergence, the property will feature approximately ‘160 guest rooms, and will have four dining outlets, including Kyoto-style kaiseki cuisine, and a fitness center.’

The Brighton Hotel is located in a more central location of Kyoto, away from the popular Gion district, where you’ll find mainstays like the Park Hyatt Kyoto. That said, its location is underrated – as the property is close to several good restaurants and between popular sites like the Nijō Castle and the Kyoto Imperial Palace.

The Brighton is also only a 23-minute walk (5 minutes by car) from my go-to Kyoto hotel, The Mitsui Kyoto, in case you’re planning to split your time between two properties.

Hilton’s got a *low-key* strong portfolio of hotels across the greater Kansai region – Osaka in particular. Whereas Hilton’s leaned on its upscale homegrown brands in Osaka (Conrad, Waldorf Astoria), in Kyoto, you’ll find more SLH properties and an LXR resort.

I’ll post more about The Brighton as its debut draws closer.
