tl;dr – Yet another points option for the booming beachy region in Southern Portugal

Hyatt recently welcomed the Masana Algarve to its Destination by Hyatt portfolio. A small property with only 33 ‘residences’, the Masana Algarve puts guests close to beaches like “Olhos de Água and Maria Luísa, known for their golden sand, turquoise waters and traditional fishing heritage.”

Destination by Hyatt properties, at times, exhibit more of a vacation-home type feel, as opposed to a traditional hotel or resort. That’s the case for Masana Algarve.

The rooms are simple-yet-elegant one or two bedroom suites. Many come equipped with garden, sea, or pool views.

There are two on-site dining options. “Casa da Praia by TUPUQ serves as the resort’s relaxed daytime venue, offering breakfast, lunch, and light bites in a sundrenched setting overlooking the pool and ocean. As evening falls, TUPUQ Restaurant & Bar on the resort’s rooftop becomes the beating heart, pairing Mediterranean-inspired flavor and crafted cocktails with music that transports guests from sunset well into the night. At both venues, the atmosphere is informal and effortless, built around rhythm, a strong sense of place, and designed to flow naturally with each guest’s own pace.”’

Hyatt has been investing aggressively in the Portuguese market. Staying in the Algarve, Hyatt recently opened the doors to a new Hyatt Regency property. In Portugal’s capital, Hyatt debuted the Andaz Lisbon. Both of these openings are part of Hyatt’s larger plan to triple its number of properties in the country by 2027. However, Hyatt’s not the only one. Both IHG and Marriott recently opened properties in the region, and Hilton will follow with its luxury Conrad brand in 2027.

Masana Algarve is a category 6 Hyatt hotel. As an independent property, booking direct might save you significant money as the Hyatt rates are a few hundred euros more than rates published on Masana Algarve’s website.

Redemptions seem to stay at the standard category 6 rate of 25,000 points per night.

For those playing the Hyatt Brand Explorer Passport game for Milestone Awards in lieu of chasing Globalist status, the Masana Algarve is a good way to ‘check off’ the Destination by Hyatt brand.
