Hyatt Makes a Splash in Anchorage: The Wildbirch Hotel (JdV by Hyatt) Now Open for Reservations

Source: Hyatt

Tl;dr – Hyatt has opened a boutique hotel in Anchorage, Alaska, bringing an upscale option to Alaska’s most populous city.

When Hyatt updated its award chart a few months ago, I wrote this fun piece detailing 45 Hyatt priorities that make for outstanding Free Night category 1-4 award redemptions. On that list was the soon-to-be-opened Wildbirch Hotel, a JdV property. We now have an update, as the hotel is officially open and accepting reservations. Whether you’re in Anchorage to explore the surrounding nature and wildlife or kicking off (or ending) an Aleutian Islands cruise, this hotel could be a good place to lay your head for a few nights.

Let’s dive in.

The Wildbirch Hotel – JdV by Hyatt

Located in downtown Anchorage, the 252-room Wildbirch Hotel is poised to serve as a base camp for visitors to the city. Room types include a few suites, some of which come with kitchenettes.

With an abundance of mountains, trails, and accessible hiking nearby, guests who like to get out in nature won’t have any shortage of to-dos.

Back at the hotel, guests can also enjoy more leisurely amenities like communal outdoor decks with cozy fire pits and sweeping views of Mount Susitna and Knik Ar.

If you do like to be active but prefer doing so indoors, there’s a solid fitness center to scratch that itch.

For dining, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Crimson, is an exciting new addition to the Anchorage dining scene. There’s also a cafe for grab-and-go-fare and light bites, Canteen Coffee Co. A third venue, The Undertap – a partnership with Anchorage’s Midnight Sun Brewing Co. – will open in a few months as well.

Some photos from early visitors look promising.

I haven’t spent too much time in Alaska, but for my next trip to Anchorage, I’ll be sure to keep the Wildbirch Hotel in mind.
