Tl;dr – Unscripted By Hyatt hotels will have a different Globalist breakfast offering.
I stumbled across a post in a World of Hyatt Facebook group where a member pointed out a change to the terms regarding the Globalist breakfast benefit at Unscripted by Hyatt, Hyatt’s newest brand.

The post seemed to hint at this being the harbinger of a more substantive ‘chipping away’ of the Globalist breakfast benefit.

I’m not so sure this is the case, and this feels like much ado about nothing. Unscripted by Hyatt is an essential brand – ‘an upscale brand option designed for travelers who value the essentials but prefer spontaneity over structure.’ The Unscripted brand is specifically for independent hotels that want to keep their local, non-chain flavor. It’s reasonable to believe that all the hotels bucketed into this soft-brand won’t quack like a duck, as in they might not all have the facilities necessary to turn out a complimentary standard elite Globalist breakfast. As a result, Hyatt’s covering its bases here, ensuring continuity across its now 37? brands, while not putting independent hotels into a tough spot.

Furthermore, Hyatt’s current elite tiers aren’t super rewarding until you get to the Globalist level. Hyatt understands this and has wisely built an entire program around allowing folks to ‘get a taste of the top-tier life‘ – without having to go all in. To start nuking one of the core benefits of the top-tier status would counteract that whole ecosystem.

I get the sense that many of these future Unscripted hotels will be coveted for their locations (increasing footprint in competitive markets while also providing a more approachable price point) and other unique characteristics (i.e., historical properties). Thus, ensuring that these properties are set up for success from the outset aligns with Hyatt’s long-term goals of growing the lifestyle and luxury segments.
