Is The Chatwal NYC Leaving World of Hyatt?

tl;dr – The NYC hotel appears to be shifting loyalty programs, and a famous London restaurant will take over the property to open its first hotel.

Yahoo News Australia reports that London’s The Wolseley restaurant is set to launch its first flagship hotel in New York City next year. The Wolseley is owned by Minor Hotels, the Thailand-based hotel chain/hospitality behemoth (which somehow, is never talked about) whose luxury brands include Anantara, Tivoli, and Elewana.

“Minor Hotels will operate the 76-bedroom property near Times Square in midtown Manhattan, featuring a cellar-level speakeasy bar, wellness centre and an all-day brasserie. The brand’s flagship hotel is set to open in early 2027 at the former Lambs Club clubhouse.”

The Lambs Club, you say? Interesting. The Lambs Club is currently the restaurant at the NYC hotel The Chatwal, a property that is currently part of Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection. Additionally, the Chatwal, not-so-surprisingly, is a 76-room outlet and is located in that exact same area. And I mean, look at the lead photo of this article and first photo (rendering of The Wolseley) – they are the same building.

Thus, it would appear that The Chatwal’s days as a part of Hyatt are numbered. As of now, reservations at The Chatwal (through Hyatt) are still available into 2027, so if you were eyeing this property for a NYC stay, you may want to get in there before it leaves the Hyatt ecosystem.

Departures to Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection, seem to be in the air nowadays.
