Tl;dr—A major winter storm has ripped through the southern U.S., resulting in flight delays and cancellations at several major airports. It’s also caused some pretty fantastic social media reactions, especially from New Orleans.
In what feels very on-brand to this wild start to 2025, a once-in-a-century winter storm has swept through the U.S. South, dumping snow in places that haven’t seen meaningful snowfall in decades. This week, we’re highlighting New Orleans-themed pieces, and given the current weather situation, I couldn’t help but highlight some of the fun we’ve seen across the internet amongst the weather-induced chaos. The culprit to all this travel mayhem? Why the Great Winter Storm of 2025, don’t you know?
Or, as it’s being called in NOLA, the ‘Bayou Blizzard’. Indeed, some of the best reactions to the snowfall have been found on IG and TikTok. I’ll share some of the more “PC” ones.

And as it is New Orleans, you can rest assured that bars are open and serving. Make your way to Lafitte’s (safely) for some purple dranks, and say hello to New Orlean’s favorite runaway Scrim, if you see him on the way. Who needs Vail Resorts, indeed.
Stay safe and please don’t stop being you, New Orleans!
