Tl;dr – The hotel’s long awaited debut comes after a few years of delays.
Earlier this week, Hyatt announced the debut of the Park Hyatt Johannesburg. This hotel has been in the works for a while. Last year, I wrote about the hotel’s anticipated April 2025 opening, which, unfortunately, did not come to fruition. Thus, it’s great to see the property finally open its doors.

The Park Hyatt Johannesburg is a rebrand and renovation of a boutique property that was known as The Winston Hotel. With only 31 rooms, this hotel promises an intimate, high-touch luxury experience for its guests. Located within the trendy Rosebank neighborhood, the hotel is near various art galleries and museums, as well as the Sunday Market for trinket shopping.

For dining, guests can eat at the hotel’s signature restaurant – Room 32, “named to play on the property’s 31 rooms.”

Regarding amenities, the hotel will soon open a spa, and there’s both a modern fitness center and an outdoor heated pool.

Last summer, I spent time in Johannesburg on both ends of a trip to Kruger Park. I enjoyed my stay at two properties – The Residence and African Pride Melrose Arch, but it’s always good to have another hotel at your disposal. As far as luxury hotel options, the Park Hyatt will slot in alongside the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff, Johannesburg and the Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa.
With regards to pricing, I searched a random night in July 2025, and the lowest (requiring advance pay) cash rate was ~$371.

The Park Hyatt Johannesburg is a Category 6 hotel, with redemption nights starting as low as 21,000 World of Hyatt points.
