Transferring HawaiianMiles to Alaska MileagePlan and Vice Versa

By now, you may have heard that Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have merged. One of the first items checked off during the transition was allowing MileagePlan and HawaiianMiles members to transfer miles between each program at a 1:1 ratio freely. I recently needed to top up my Mileage Plan balance for a redemption and decided to transfer over a few Hawaiian miles to close the gap. Here’s a walkthrough of the transfer process.
Transferring miles between HawaiianMiles and MileagePlan
I started by logging into my HawaiianMiles account, though I imagine you can also start this process on Alaska’s website.

Once you’re on the account page, scroll down and select ‘Redeem Miles’ from one of the menu sections on the right.

On the next page, you’ll have a few options for redeeming miles, and you should select “Transfer miles to Alaska’s Mileage Plan.”

You’ll then be gated to Points.com’s site, where you’ll be prompted to select which program you want to transfer miles to. Here, I selected Alaska Mileage Plan, but if you’re looking to move miles from Alaska to Hawaii, you would, of course, select HawaiianMiles.

A popup will appear, prompting you to log in to Mileage Plan (or HawaiianMiles). You’ll then arrive at a page where you can input (or use the slider) to select how many miles you want to transfer.

After finalizing the amount you want to transfer, you’ll receive a confirmation on the next page, and you’re done! The miles should be available in the destination account near-instantly (you may need to log out and log back in to see them reflected).

Conclusion
The merger of Alaska and Hawaiian opens the door to all sorts of useful redemptions. As Hawaiian is a transfer partner of American Express (for now), it’s a way to get bank points to Alaska quickly and easily. If you plan to take advantage of this for a great redemption, I’d love to know in the comments!
