Review: American Airlines Business Class Vancouver (YVR) to Dallas (DFW) – Solid Damn Service

Source: You Are Travel

Tl;dr – Flying out of Vancouver, I flew American Airlines Business Class to Dallas. I enjoyed above-average service and a simple but tasty breakfast offering.

Concluding my quick trip to British Columbia, where I explored Vancouver and the Okanagan Valley, I flew on American Airlines to Dallas (DFW). I booked this flight using AAdvantage miles for about 20K miles per person (2) and $96 in combined taxes and fees. We were scheduled for a morning departure – and the flight was an easy one. After clearing U.S. Customs in Vancouver, I stopped by the Plaza Premium lounge before it was time to head to the gate for boarding.

American Airlines flies its twin-jet Airbus A321 for this route between Vancouver and Dallas. I’ve flown this business class cabin on American Airlines on this same aircraft several times, but never on this route and with this flight crew. Boarding was painless and swift.

I was seated in 3A, and before long, the flight attendant working with the business class cabin brought a warm towel for me to refresh.

Table stakes? Yes, but I always appreciate the full charging outlet on these planes (as opposed to the USB slot); please don’t be stingy with my power.

The business class seat included breakfast service, which was simple but pretty tasty. Mrs. Blackbeard and I split orders of oatmeal and the breakfast platter – eggs, a croissant, and sausage, alongside some coffee and mimosas. As we hadn’t eaten breakfast at the hotel and skipped the food in the lounge, this hit the spot.

The big takeaway from this flight was the service. I was impressed by the attention and friendliness of the cabin staff. What would have been a routine four-hour journey felt a lot more comfortable, pleasant, and shorter. Whether it was checking in continually for additional drink orders or offering more warm pastries, this cabin team put in the effort.

The phrase “Solid DAMN service” comes to mind – kinda like when you were in college and it was rush time and every sorority claimed to have the “Best DAMN pledgeclass.” Same sort of vigor here.

Conclusion

I enjoyed some of the better service I’ve had onboard this four-hour flight from Vancouver to Dallas on American Airlines. Breakfast was simple but solid, and the flight went by in a breeze.
