Tl;dr – Tensions continue to escalate in Venezuela.

Reuters reports that six airlines –  Iberia, TAP, Avianca, Latam Colombia, Turkish Airlines, and Gol- saw their permits revoked by the Venezuelan civil aviation authority.

This move comes as tensions escalate between the US and Venezuela. Specifically, Venezuela justified the decision to revoke permits, citing that the carriers had ‘joined actions of state terrorism promoted by the United States by “unilaterally” halting commercial flights.’

Obviously, Venezuela as a nation has been in the midst of a crisis for several years now. The latest US military operations under the Trump administration have only added fuel to the fire.

Copa Airlines and Wingo are among the airlines still operating flights to Venezuela.
