Stay at IHG’s New Beachfront Resort and Visit the World’s Largest Cave

Source: IHG

Tl;dr – IHG has opened its first-ever voco Resort on Bao Ninh beach in Quang Binh, Vietnam

IHG just opened the doors to its newest Beach Resort, and it’s one for the sun-and-fun crowd. Located on Bao Ninh Beach, about four and ½ hours northwest of Da Nang, the voco Quang Binh Resort features 68 suites and beachfront villas. It is IHG’s first-ever voco resort.

I’ve never leaned too heavily into IHG-land, as there haven’t been too many properties that interest me. That said, voco is a brand that IHG is investing heavily in. There are currently 95 voco hotels, with another 95 in the pipeline. In case you’re wondering, ‘voco’ (and yes, the ‘v’ is supposed to be lowercase), originating from Latin, means ‘to invite’ and ‘call together.’ voco is another one of those premium-ish brands. It kinda skews Kimpton-y and Hotel Indigo-y at the same time. Some folks might even use the dreaded label – ‘lifestyle’ – to describe voco.

You can tell from the room count that this isn’t a huge property, and the amenities and offerings follow suit. There’s just one dedicated full-service restaurant – the Flamingo Restaurant & Bar – which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests can otherwise enjoy eats from the Oasis Pool bar while lounging at the pool or order room service. Of course, you can also venture off-property to eat at many of the well-reviewed nearby restaurants.

As far as amenities, the resort has both an indoor and outdoor pool, a private beach, a 24-hour fitness center, and a robust spa featuring a dedicated foot spa, rejuvenating hydrotherapy pool, and 17 treatment rooms. There’s also a kids club for anyone traveling with youngsters.

Rooms look snazzy, if I do say so myself. The suites look very comfortable and most (if not all) of the villas – and even some non-villa rooms – have a private pool.

It’s probably not a surprise, given the market we’re discussing, but rates are pretty affordable. A base-level King Suite will cost you about $125 a night, or 9550 IHG Rewards Points.

If you like caves and caverns, then you might stay at this resort as a launching point for the world’s largest Cave – Son Doong Cave, which is about 1 hr and 45 minutes away by car. Located within Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this area is also home to other wondrous caves along the Chay River, such as the Dark Cave and Paradise Cave. Also nearby, within a 30-minute drive of the resort, are the Quang Phu Sand Dunes and the Than Dinh Mountains.
