Through July 17, 2025, you can purchase Air Canada Aeroplan Points with up to a 100% bonus. Note – the level of your bonus offer is targeted. You’ll want to login to your Aeroplan account and see what purchase bonus you’re offered. In my case, I received an 85% bonus. Aeroplan is in my opinion the best Star Alliance loyalty plan for redemptions. If you’re eyeing a business or first class flight, purchasing points at their discounted price during this sale, can very well save you 50% or more off the cash price of the very same premium cabin fare. - Aeroplan allows each member to buy up to 1,000,000 points per calendar year (500,000 in a single transaction) which is both insane and awesome.
- Aeroplan points purchases are priced in CAD, so you’ll want to convert the price to USD to assess if it’s a good deal. If you normally operate on USD, you stand to benefit a bit from the stronger currency.
- This discount on this sale is staggered as follows:
- For purchases of 3,000 points, you’ll receive a 40% discount.For purchases of 25,000 points, you’ll receive a 60% discount.For purchases of 40,000 points or more, you’ll receive a 85% discount.
- If you’re targeted for the 100% bonus, for those receiving it, kicks in on purchases of 80,000 points or more.
- If you purchased the maximum amount per transaction, you’d receive 875,000 Aeroplan points at a cost of CAD 17,500. If you haven’t purchased any Aeroplan points this year, you could do two of those purchases.
How Do You Purchase Aeroplan Points?
Purchasing Aeroplan points is simple:
- Start by visiting aircanada.com then log into your Aeroplan account.
- Once you’re logged in, click on ‘Aeroplan offers’ from the left menu panel.
- Scroll to the bottom to find the ‘Do more with your Aeroplan points’ section and click on the ‘Buy’ tile. You’ll be transferred to points.com.
- From there, click on the menu to select how many points you’d like to purchase and follow the prompts to complete your transaction.
What are Some Good Uses of Aeroplan Points?
Oftentimes you’ll find the best redemption deals come from using the loyalty currency of one airline to redeem for a flight on another airline. For example, one might redeem Aeroplan Points to fly with a partner airline, say EVA Air, as they are members of the same airline alliance – Star Alliance. Airlines also strike one-off partnerships with others airlines, even if they aren’t part of the same alliance, thus enabling members to earn and redeem miles when flying each respective program. The Aeroplan loyalty program is a favorite among points and miles enthusiasts due to the good availability of premium cabin partner awards seating, reasonable redemption costs and relatively low taxes and fees tacked that accompany award fares. There are truly so many great redemption options within Aeroplan.
For example, for just 130,000 points you can fly in style – first class – between the Abu Dhabi and the U.S. East cost on Etihad Airways.
Or if you’re keen on seeing the Swiss Alps, you could fly Edelweiss Air business class, a Lufthansa subsidiary, from Bogota to Zurich.
