tl;dr – And my favorite airport hotel also made the top ten!
The Grand Hyatt at SFO was just named the World’s Best Airport Hotel at the 2026 World Airport Awards by Skytrax. It took home the top award for North American airport hotels and was named #2 in the world, bested only by the Crowne Plaza Changi Airport in Singapore. Singapore’s Changi Airport was named Best Airport in the World.

The Grand Hyatt at SFO “features 351 soundproofed guestrooms, many with sweeping views of the runway or San Francisco Bay, allowing guests to rest comfortably while remaining connected to the vibrant energy of the airport and city. Guests can enjoy globally inspired cuisine at Quail & Crane, the hotel’s signature restaurant celebrating California’s diverse culinary influences and Asian flavors. The exclusive Grand Club, a private lounge with comfortable seating and panoramic views, is open 24 hours for guests to enjoy light refreshments throughout the day, Continental breakfast, evening hors d’oeuvres, an honor bar, and after-dinner treats.”

Given its connection to SFO, guests can also access public transportation in BART (which in turn provides a connection to Caltrain) for journeys to San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, or elsewhere in the Bay Area.

Though I used to be a Bay Area resident and have passed by the property several times going to and from SFO airport, I’ve never stayed at the Grand Hyatt at SFO. While I’m sure it’s great, I’m partial to the #9 hotel on the 2026 list, the Portom International Hokkaido.

I stayed a night in August 2025 and thoroughly loved my stay. Boasting great amenities like its onsen and several fine dining outlets, it’s a step above in terms of airport hotels.
