tl;dr – I can’t resist myself. Unexpected or not?
One thing that I love about the points and miles community, or frequent travelers in general, is that everyone’s a bit quirky. Folks have their preferences, the little things that make them tick – small things that may not seem like much but seem to enhance the travel experience. In my case, I’m not much of a collector and far from a hoarder, but there is one hotel amenity that I cannot get enough of.
If you’re thinking robes or towels, you’re wrong, and frankly, I’m disappointed in how low you think I’d stoop. Well, I never!

Pens? Pens would be a better guess, as any long-time hotel enthusiast knows, you can find some solid pens at hotels. Closer but not quirky enough.
The answer: Dental Kits. I LOVE ME SOME DENTAL KITS.

Why? It’s not because I suffer from habitually bad breath and always need to brush my teeth (at least I hope that’s not the case). It’s because I find them to be super convenient. If you’ve ever had that ‘i-just-ate-something-that-was-a-bit-messier-than-i-expected-and-now-stuff-is-stuck-in-my-teeth-or-i-generally-could-just-use-some-oral-cleansing’ feeling, a conveniently sized dental kick is leaps and bounds better than any stick of gum or pocket floss.
And let’s talk about how far dental kits have come. On some of my recent travels, I stayed at a few Park Hyatts, as well as some other luxury properties, and I’ve noticed that, rather consistently, now, the dental kits are using Marvis Toothpaste, a favorite of mine.
Having pocket-sized Marvis…oh my, I’m gonna need a room.

You see that? “Smile Everyday”. Not only are you getting sound oral hygiene. But you’re also getting positive affirmation. PLEASE – you can keep the hotel pen.
I’ve shared mine – what is yours?
