tl;dr – Not a bad choice.
Much has been made about Air India’s fleet upgrades, specifically the six widebody aircraft it’ll take ownership of this year, including Airbus A350-1000s and Boeing 787-9s.

Recently, Air India received its first-ever Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and that plane has been pegged for its first journey – to Frankfurt.

The plane will operate a Mumbai/Frankfurt route, first departing February 1, 2026. Notably, the aircraft features 30 business-class seats.
Evidently, the airline also plans to fly a 787-9 to Tokyo (Haneda/Delhi route) as soon as February 14, 2026.

I’ve never flown Air India before and have no immediate plans to do so, but I do love to see the airline making upgrades to its fleet, and hopefully, its soft product as well.
