tl;dr – Do you need to soak in a thermal spring?

Let it be known – I am definitely pro ‘spa day’. As such, I thought it might be useful to quickly profile a growing trend I’ve seen – the growth of social wellness clubs and new age spa chains. Now several of these outlets share many of the same features – sauna, hamman, steam room, and ice bath experiences – to help you rest and restore. Some of these chains – depending on their location – even offer thermal baths. Notably, these chains have started to pop up in several popular cities in Europe and the US, providing visitors with good ‘chill day’ options while traveling.

Let’s take a look:

QC Terme

‘The Spa of Wonders’ boasts 13 locations, all of which are in Europe (mostly in Italy) save for its NYC location. I’ve previously visited the QC Terme Milano, and it’s a great place to rest and relax from busy days of sightseeing, particularly if you go early to avoid the Instagrammers. Its Rome location is a sneaky clutch crash pad for any departures from or late arrivals to Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. As a standard room comes with access to the wellness facilities, it makes for a great interlude before resuming your adventure.

Othership

Currently with four locations across NYC and Toronto, Othership is a ‘modern bathhouse to regulate your nervous system, process emotions, and connect meaningfully with other human beings.’

Remedy Place

Calling itself the ‘World’s First Social Wellness Clubs’, Remedy Place has locations in Los Angeles, New York City, and Boston. Offering everything from breathwork classes to yoga, ice baths, saunas, vitamin IVs, NAD+, chiropractic, acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygen, and more, Remedy Place definitely leans into the all-encompassing definition of the word wellness.

Aire Ancient Baths

Currently nine locations – Chicago, Toronto, New York, Almería, Barcelona, Sevilla, London, Vallromanes, Copenhagen – Aire Ancient Baths is known for its ‘iconic thermal tour allowing you to free your mind and relax your body while enjoying baths at different temperatures at your own pace, through the pleasures of water in an atmosphere full of magic.’

Bathhouse NYC

With three NYC current locations, Bathhouse offers several experiences, including thermal pools sequences: three hot pools,  cold plunges, neutral pools, and a Rooftop Pool where guests can rotate between the pools to reap the recovery benefits.

What are you going for your next spa day?
