tl;dr – Who will end up with the Draupnir?
Norse Atlantic Airways is reportedly up for sale and has hired JPMorgan to run the auction process. The Norwegian low-cost, long-haul airline headquartered in Arendal, Norway, was founded in February 2021. The carrier operates a fleet of Boeing 787 aircraft between Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia.

While there’s been a lot of talk of leading European carriers swooping in to snap up the struggling carrier, many industry experts have identified other strategic purchasers. Courtesy of Tarjei L on LinkedIn:

Honestly, IndiGo, Air India, Riyadh Air, flydubai, Saudia, all would make sense. Almost all of these carriers have expressed legitimate interest in expanding their international operations that require widebody jets and 1 billion euros, while not cheap, also isn’t unreasonable, particularly when taking into account how much this can potentially accelerate some of the already-established timelines for expansion. In Norse mythology, the Draupnir, Odin’s golden ring, is said to have the ability to multiply itself, creating eight identical rings every nine nights.

Might this acquisition have a similar effect for a carrier with major growth aspirations?

It’ll be interesting to see who ends up with the prize!
