Tl;dr – The Mtn Scout Truckee will join Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio.
Bonvoy members who are also fans of the outdoors will appreciate this latest news from the “M.” Construction has begun on a new Marriott property in Truckee, California, a small town renowned for its proximity to several ski resorts, Lake Tahoe, and its accessibility to various outdoor activities. The Mtn Scout Truckee is slated for a 2028 debut and will open as part of Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio.
The Mtn Scout Truckee
Located in the Sierra Mountains, the 129-key Mtn Scout Truckee will be located in the development at the Village at Gray’s Crossing.

For any history buffs, the hotel is only 7 minutes away from Donner Lake, named after the infamous Donner Party. For guests visiting from out of state, it’s also just a 7-minute ride to Tahoe-Truckee Airport. It’s only 18 minutes to Lake Tahoe.

Guests will have a wide range of fun activities at their doorstep, including hiking, skiing, biking, swimming, and boating, all of which are easily accessible in nearby areas.
For dining, two outlets have been confirmed thus far: a lobby-level restaurant and bar and Tunnel 6, a whiskey bar and lounge located on the third floor.

Other hotel amenities include outdoor fire pits and courtyard hot tubs, a fitness center, and valet gear storage for skis, snowboards, water skis, and wakeboards.

Points hotel options that provide access to the outdoors are always good news. They are even more compelling if they can help lessen the costs for ski trips, where between lodging, dining, equipment rentals and lift tickets, costs can easily balloon. This property is scheduled for a 2028 debut, and I’ll be sure to follow up with any updates on its progress between now and then.
