tl;dr – Criticism of the decision to continue the show after the fatal crash has come from various entities.
While performing an aerial maneuver, a Hindustan Aeronautics Tejas jet crashed into the ground, killing the Indian pilot at the Dubai Airshow last week.
Courtesy of Reddit, there’s a side-by-side video comparing the aerial maneuver in question as performed at a Singapore Airshow in 2022 with the fatal crash last week. (WARNING: GRAPHIC VIDEO BELOW)
Firstly, condolences to the friends, family, and loved ones of the deceased pilot. Secondly, it is somewhat surprising (to say the least) that, after the crash, a decision was made to continue the show. Regardless of whether the crash was deemed to be an isolated incident (with no bearing on the safety of other aircraft, performers, or bystanders at the event), the graphic nature of the crash and the loss of life would seem to be enough to say, maybe that’s enough for today.
