Hyatt Quietly Adds Downtown Charleston Hotel to JDV but Really Just Rebrands a Hyatt House

tl;dr – The hotel will enter World of Hyatt as a Category 4 property.

Hyatt will soon onboard a new property in Charleston, South Carolina. Part of its “Lifestyle” portfolio – JDV by Hyatt – The Lowline Hotel is open for reservations beginning August 1, 2026. It’s a Category 4 property meaning that Hyatt members will be able to redeem a Category 1-4 Free Night Award, provided there’s a standard room available. This property is rebranding from a Hyatt House.

Featuring 197 guest rooms and suites and located on famed King Street, and equipped with a ‘full reimagining’, Hyatt is betting that the Lowline will prove to be a more enticing option than its previous iteration – the Hyatt House Charleston/Historic (both versions of the property are/were Category 4 properties).

For dining, guests can enjoy the Leeward Restaurant, coffee and snacks at Lowline Spirited Coffee & Provisions in the lobby, or whatever is on tap at the rooftop Pour Taproom.

Amenities include a fitness center…

…and indoor pool.

Charleston is, of course, known for its history, and this property could be a good launching point for immersing yourself in it all.

For rates – I’m seeing mid $300s in August 2026, and the property flows with Hyatt’s new Category 4 pricing (from low to peak).
