tl;dr – The day is soon upon us.

If you follow all things points and miles, by now you’ve heard of the doom-and-gloom award chart devaluation and other upcoming changes to the World of Hyatt loyalty program. When the news first dropped, it was said that these changes would take place sometime in May. Well, it appears that the actual date of effectiveness will be May 20, 2026. Initially, (as you’ll see below) several properties reached out to guests with reservations with messaging suggesting that the award chart changes would go into effect a bit earlier, on May 7th.
A few weeks ago, Reddit user u/David_Copperfield posted a screenshot of a note from the Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, which reads as follows:
However, Hyatt’s page indicated that these changes will in fact take place on May 20th (alongside it’s annual category shifts).
On the bright side, there’s still time to plan. I’ll have more about some other Hyatt strategies soon.
