tl;dr – A list of travel deals(s) I’m moving on that you may also want to consider.

We’re back with another installment of “Deals I’m Booking That You Should Book Too”, a weekly series where I walk you through a random (possibly more) curated deal(s) – points & miles, cash, otherwise (?) – that I find compelling for one reason or another. You can find the past installments here (and yes, volumes 3-6 are on their way, I have forgotten!). Ok, let’s dive into it.

Using American Airlines Miles Sale to Book Business Class to or from Japan for $1500

If you haven’t heard, American Airlines is running its (roughly) once-a-year miles sale. As a result, the cost of purchasing enough miles for some saver fares to or from Japan (from the US) is pretty attractive. Let’s take a look at an example:

I’ve conducted an award search and found a business class seat on Japan Airlines (JAL) bookable with 60,000 AAdvantage miles:

Now, if you don’t have any AAdvantage miles, this sale presents a good opportunity to purchase them and immediately redeem them for this fare. Here’s how much 60,000 AAdvantage miles will cost you now through December 2, 2025:

$1580.25. You’ll need to add $44.83 to that to cover the taxes and fees on the redemption fare, but for $1625.08, you can lie flat for almost 13 hours as your cruise in JAL business class from Tokyo to London. Let’s not forget the lounge access your business class flight entitles you to pre-departure. And let’s not forget that cash rates for this same business class flight bottom out at $4K.

Even an economy seat is going to cost you over $2K! You’ll pay ~$400 less to fly business!

The power of points and miles.
