tl;dr – Bed bugs on a Delta flight.

A few weeks ago, a man traveling on a Delta flight took to Reddit to showcase an unexpected hitchhiker on this flight from Boston to Seattle – a bed bug. The anonymous passenger on flight DL384 saw a “huge mature bed bug crawl across [his] leg!”

The passenger indicated that he “was in [a] window seat at the front. Flight was DL384. Aircraft tail number is N532DN.”

Notably, he “considers this aircraft infested!!!”

Bed bugs are gross – that’s a given.

On the bright side, this incident has led to some super solid internet commentary. A few handpicked gems from the thread:

“You have to be at least Gold Medallion to get seats without those. Sorry.”

“Was he ok with the boarding music or did he complain about it?”

“Did he ask if you could move to another seat so he could sit with his family?” (This might be the winner).

Many other commenters expressed concern as to the status of the aircraft – specifically, whether the original poster (and bed bug viewer) had contacted a flight attendant and whether the plane was taken out of service for a deep cleaning/fumigation.

The poster confirmed that he did alert a flight attendant, though tracking of the plane suggests that the aircraft only (if that) received its regularly scheduled cleaning and otherwise has operated on its typical schedule.
