One of Chicago’s most iconic buildings might soon be in for some revitalization, as Marriott is in talks to open a new luxury hotel at the city’s John Hancock Center. Marriott hopes to debut a 350-room Edition hotel that would occupy 11 floors of the building.
A defining structure of the city’s skyline, the Magnificent Mile building has seen a major decrease in occupancy, exacerbated by the pandemic, and has not recovered since.
Though a deal isn’t yet finalized, reports indicated that talks are ‘advanced’ and that the hotel rooms would be located on floors 23 through 34 of the 100-story tower.
Marriott also has Edition hotels planned for other US locations like Nashville, Detroit, and Scottsdale.
