Tl;dr—We have a more concrete timeline for the opening of the Alila Mayakoba, which rebranded from the former Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya.
In early March, the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya closed to undergo its rebrand to an Alila. We now have more information on this project, including a rough timeline for reopening the newly renovated property. The Alila Mayakoba is scheduled for a Q4 2025 reopening. Let’s dive into the details.
The Alila Mayakoba will feature 118 guest rooms and 64 suites, all with a private pool. Core to the Alila brand, wellness is on display at this resort, headed by the Alila spa, which will offer numerous services that combine the essence of Alila with local Mayan traditions. Guests will enjoy a traditional Temazcal (a traditional Mesoamerican igloo-looking sauna) and an extensive hydrotherapy footprint.

Guests who like to golf can enjoy a Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf course. The property will welcome a brand new beach club as part of the renovation.
Several dining concepts are planned, and the resort’s flagship outlets will heavily promote farm-to-table practices. The resort’s on-site garden will play a key role in this.
As far as aesthetics go, the property will use its natural surroundings. The region’s natural mangroves will be elevated by thoughtful construction, with the aim of giving guests an immersive experience.
Rates are not yet available for the property. You have to imagine this rebrand was aimed at ‘upleveling’ the resort to the surrounding competition. Right in this same Riviera Maya area, you have the Rosewood Mayakoba, Maroma -A Belmond Hotel, the St. Regis Kanai Resort and its sister property – The Riviera Maya EDITION At Kanai, Banyan Tree Mayakoba, Viceroy Riviera Maya, Fairmont Mayakoba,, Chablé Maroma, Conrad Tulum Riviera Maya, and the Paladins Overwater Bungalows. Not to mention all the all-inclusive resorts in this area, from brands like Barcelo, Secrets, Wyndham, Paradisus, which tend to be a bit more upscale than you’d expect. So, yes, I’m excited to see Hyatt put its best foot forward this is new Alila.
