Yikes: The Mashup Video of Air India’s CEO and American Airline’s CEO Post-Tragedy Remarks is Damning

Source: Reddit

Tl;dr – Sigh.

Yesterday, I came across a posting on Reddit’s r/aviation subreddit, which features an overlay/mashup video of Air India CEO Campbell Wilson’s statement (about the June 12th 787 crash) and American Airlines CEO Robert Isom’s statement after American Airlines jet and a US Army helicopter collided earlier this year.

It’s been just about two weeks since the crash, and this is by no means the first coverage highlighting the suspected plagiarism here. Still, there’s something about the mashup in this video that puts the boldness and audacity of it all front and center.

Look, I try to avoid these topics and the soapbox generally, so I’ll be brief in my thoughts here. This horrific crash impacted lots of families, and no amount of words were going to bring back the loved ones who were lost. That said, in the corporation-heavy world we live in today, there should still be some place for what I can only call – making an effort. If a 787 Dreamliner falling out of the sky isn’t enough for you to find something authentic to say, then it’s more than fair game for others to question your judgment and for your fitness as a leader to be heavily scrutinized.

Yikes.
