Air New Zealand Formally Launches New Koru Loyalty Program

tl;dr – There are now five loyalty tiers in the new program.

Air New Zealand recently revamped its loyalty program to include five tiers. Notably, these changes introduce two new tiers including Koru Platinum and Koru Black, enhanced lounge access, Status Retain, and Status Rewards milestone.

Here’s a look at the tiers and the key benefits:

I’ll admit I’m not very active in Air New Zealand’s loyalty program. I’ve flown the carrier’s long-haul business-class service before, but I booked that flight through a Star Alliance partner. One big takeaway is that Star Alliance Gold, which was granted at Airports Gold, still maps over to Koru Gold. One cool benefit of Koru Black is the sharing benefits – Koru Black elites can “share benefits with friends or family through Koru Circle, alongside additional upgrades and rewards — acknowledging that frequent travel is often supported by those around them.”

I recently attained Star Alliance Gold with Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer – which I’ll detail in a separate post.
