tl;dr – Hilton will reflag the existing Hotel Maria as the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki
Big news out of Hilton today. The international hotel chain will open the first Nordic outpost of its top luxury brand, Waldorf Astoria. The Waldorf Astoria Helsinki will be a rebrand of the existing Hotel Maria. This is a pretty interesting move by Hilton – let’s dive into the details.

The Waldorf Astoria Helsinki
Post-rebrand, the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki will feature “116 rooms and will be located in the historic Kruununhaka of the city.’

The property’s amenities will include a fitness studio and a Nordic wellness spa with a traditional Finnish sauna.”

Guests can expect a premium dining option; at present, the Hotel Maria’s flagship restaurant is Lilja, as well as a flagship bar.

This is a good get by Hilton and a win for all points fans. The Hotel Maria is, according to many outlets, considered the top luxury property in the city, so it’s great to know that this hotel will now be accessible on points.

It’s expected that the formal rebrand will take place later this year. Presumably, the property will debut as the Waldorf Astoria Helsinki at that same time, or in early 2026.
I’ll follow up with more details as they become available, but for now, here are some more photos of the property in its current iteration.
