Hilton Just Opened a Flagship Hotel in This Underrated Italian City

Source: Hilton

Tl;dr – The Hilton Turin enters as one of just a handful of point hotels in the Northwestern Italian city.

If you’re a Hilton Honors member planning to visit northwest Italy anytime soon, you have a new points-friendly option for stays in Turin.

Hilton recently opened the doors to the Hilton Turin Centre, a 175-room outlet (including 36 suites) that’s situated right in the heart of the city.

Guests can refresh in the hotel’s indoor pool, sauna, or at the spa. They can also get a workout in the modern fitness center.

For dining, there’s Malìa, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, which focuses on iconic Piedmontese dishes. Alchemy The Bar is the hotel’s mixology spot that looks like a fun place to grab a drink.

Turin (Turino) is an underrated European city. Though it gained some attention after hosting the 2006 Winter Olympics, many travelers visiting Italy still pass over Turin in favor of more popular Italian tourist destinations like Rome, Florence, Milan, and Venice. It’s a mistake as the city (and the surrounding region) has plenty to offer. As the capital of Piedmont (Piedmonte), Turin provides access to arguably the best wine region in the country. Piedmont is where you’ll find wines made from the storied Italian grapes such as Barolo and Barbaresco.

The area is also the center of the Slow Food Movement (headquartered in Bra, Italy – 45 minutes from Turin), and in general, is a gastronomic heaven. You’ll find several fantastic restaurants, everything from the fancier Michelin-style eateries to the neighborhood mainstays.

If you’re a sports fan, one of the most famous football clubs in the world – Juventus – calls Turin home.

Turin is also strategically located for other fun adventures. It’s less than a two-hour drive to all of the following: the Italian Riviera, the Matterhorn in Switzerland, and Milan.

And of course, there’s the history. A stronghold of the Savoy dynasty, Turin was the first capital of unified Italy.

The city doesn’t lack the historic and cultural sites that you expect from many other popular European cities. Though its validity has long been debated, the city is home to the alleged Shroud of Turin, the famed burial cloth of Jesus.

Rates are pretty reasonable (Turin in general isn’t a pricey hotel market) as they are less than $200 for most of the year, with redemption nights starting at 50,000 points per night.

As there aren’t a ton of points-hotels in Turin, a few of the other options include a Hotel Indigo (from IHG) and an AC Marriott – the Hilton Turin Centre has an immediate opportunity vault to the top of the list for point stays in Turin(o).
