tl;dr – Southwest Airlines adds another international partner.

A few weeks back, Southwest Airlines announced a new partnership with Philippine Airlines, a move that will help passengers traveling connecting through select West Coast hubs – Los Angeles (LAX), Seattle/Tacoma (SEA), San Francisco (SFO), and Honolulu, Oahu (HNL). The inter-airline agreement will allow for single-ticket travel between the two airlines.

Southwest, of course, has been through quite a bit of change in the last year. The ‘People’s Airline’ received the private equity treatment, and with it, a slew of sweeping changes have come about. Some of these changes are quite a departure from the Southwest of old, as this deal with Philippine Airlines is the fourth international airline partnership for Southwest (China Airlines, Icelandair, EVA Airline, and others are the others), and the airline has hinted at international expansion on its own accord as well.
