tl;dr – If you’re not looking hopeful, Instant Status Match to the rescue.
The other day, I wrote about the return of the American Airlines / Hyatt Instant Status match and how, as a Hyatt Globalist, I’m using it for four months of AAdvantage Platinum Pro and oneworld Emerald statuses, before potentially going all in on AAdvantage Hotels bookings in March.
I recently fired up the Hyatt app to review an upcoming booking and took a peek at the corresponding status match offer on Hyatt’s side. Though I’m already a Globalist, I’m currently targeted for Hyatt Explorist status through the challenge, with the opportunity to keep Explorist status by staying 10 nights in 90 days, or uplevel to Globalist by staying 20 nights in 90 days.

I’ve got 31 nights under my belt right now, and at least five planned for the remainder of the year. Thus, I could book another 24 nights to requalify for Globalist, which, as I’ve written about before, may not even be worth it (in the best of ways).
…or
I could get there for four fewer nights by activating the challenge and hitting 20 nights in 90 days.
To me, there’s not a drastic difference between those last four nights. I could honestly probably gift a few GOHs (I might even have a few outstanding gifted GOHs out there that could convert for at least two of those more nights) to make it over the hump.
However, If you’ve received this offer, sit far away from requalification and really covet Globalist for another year, this is the in-case-of-emergency-break-glass offer you need.
