Hyatt Traveler Tier Ranks the 150+ Properties They’ve Stayed At: Ratings Incredibly Suspect

tl;dr – Ok, ‘suspect’ maybe strong here, but at the very least, the ratings required clarification.

Stumbled across a post in the r/Hyatt subreddit, where a traveler tier ranked 150 Hyatt properties after having hit a 150-property milestone.

People were quick to point out how wild some of the rankings were a bit wild. The Park Hyatt Paris is a ‘B’, but the Hyatt Place Allentown is an ‘A’?’

One commenter surmised that the OP (original poster) was factoring ‘expectations’, more specifically, how good a hotel performed above his pre-stay expectations for the place. The OP seemed to confirm that theory in a response to that comment.

Outside of that, it’s always interesting/a good reminder that one, 1) ratings are super subjective and 2) people are so very quirky and different, and that translates to their travel patterns, and 3) ‘diamond in the rough’ properties are still going strong. I loved me a diamond in the rough property, the type of hotel that punches way above its weight, and gives you that points-and-miles-savage warm feeling inside, making you feel like you ‘netted outsized value.’ Several folks cosigned such ‘diamonds in the rough’ in the comments.

I’m guessing the OP is at least somewhat of a business traveler, possibly a road warrior, and they heavily patronize Hyatt Regency properties. Their ratings aside – I need to call out the effort here. Color-coding the graphic by brand (at least mostly)? I would add an extra fortune cookie for that if I were running the takeout orders for the night.
