Have Global Entry and Got a New Passport? – Don’t Forget to Do This

tl;dr – You may need to visit your TTP account.

Last year, I renewed my passport via an expedited in-person appointment. The whole process couldn’t have been any smoother, and I’m already busy filling up stamps. Recently, I received an email from the US Customs and Border Protection informing me that I needed my passport has expired and I needed to update my new passport information (if applicable) to my Trusted Traveler Program account online.

Initially, I thought this might be a scam.

However, after some due diligence, I determined that the email was legit, as was the official government website the message directed me to.

Updating my TTP information with my new passport was simple. Like many public-facing US administrative agencies, US Customs and Border Protection’s TTP uses Login.gov. After authenticating, updating my information was a breeze. Here’s the step-by-step:

 1. First, log in to your account at https://ttp.dhs.gov by clicking “Log In” (on the top right-hand side of the page).

   2. Once logged into your account, click “Update Documents” on the right-hand side of the dashboard.

   3. Follow the prompts to update your document. Once updated, no further action is needed.

Once you’re new passport info is linked to your TTP account, you should be good to go and shouldn’t have any issues with using Global Entry/receiving TSA pre-check.
