tl;dr – A potentially clutch option for NYC stays.

Hyatt just welcomed its first property in Brooklyn, NY (shocker, I know) – The Livingston Hotel. Located in downtown Brooklyn, The Livingston wins on location. It’s a few blocks from “the Barclays Center, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), [Fort Greene Park], and the Brooklyn Museum, as well as a host of renowned theaters, art galleries, and live music venues. Multiple subway stations are within walking distance, providing easy access to Manhattan – just 15 minutes away – and the rest of New York.”

The 104-room hotel spans 22-stories and ‘every room has dynamic city views.’

For dining, there’s the hotel’s full-service restaurant – The Grove Lantern – as well as the lobby’s Goldfinch Café.

There’s also a 20-square-foot terrace, The Perch, set upon the dynamic backdrop of Brooklyn’s iconic cityscape.’

This is where cocktail receptions, celebrations, and other casual events will take place.

The Livingston enters World of Hyatt as a Category 5 hotel, (frustratingly) out of reach of a Category 1-4 award. It’s part of JDV by Hyatt, so if you’re missing that stamp on your brand explorer passport, this could be a good opportunity to knock that one off as you pursue a Milestone award. I spotted some April rates in the mid $200s and free nights going for 23,000 points.

For travelers seeking a more affordable, yet-still-trendy alternative to properties in Manhattan, The Livingston might be just that.

It’s New York, so a subway station isn’t too far away, making this property a potential sleeper option for visits to the Big Apple.
