Deals I’m Booking That You Should Too (Vol. 13) – Reserve Your Room in the Eternal City Before Everyone Else

tl;dr – Grab pre-devaluation rates in an often-tough hotel market.

Another day, another installment of “Deals I’m Booking That You Should Book Too”, a weekly series where I walk you through a random (possibly more) curated deal(s) – points & miles, cash, otherwise (?) – that I find compelling for one reason or another. You can find the past installments here.

Today, we’re talking about Rome (again), but this time it’s Hyatt’s Thompson brand that’s front and center. The Thompson Rome is another hotel I’m targeting for an points advance booking or simply securing with points and the pre-devaluation rates.

Rome’s a quirky city as hotel rates can be a bit expensive (for my liking) for what you get, so securing a stay on points can oftentimes help even out the value.

As far as the hotel’s marquee offerings, the gem of the property is the rooftop. Specifically, its bar and the views it affords of Rome’s living history. It doesn’t appear there’s a huge investment in dining at the hotel otherwise, though that shouldn’t be a problem in Rome.

There’s also a gym with shiny new Technogym equipment.

Rooms have that upscale-and-slightly-leaning-into-too-hip Thompson feel.

Rates (pre-devaluation) are as follows:

A bit of caution here. I was just in Rome, doing, amongst other things, co-working at my first citizenM property. While walking around, I checked in on the Thompson Rome, which was still very much under construction. As of this writing, the hotel’s website indicates that reservations are available for July 30, 2026.

Though from the looks of what I saw, I’m not sure that date is realistic.

It certainly might be, but if you do plan on booking, I’d maybe hold off on all other surrounding reservations before you definitively know the hotel will be open. As I’ve mentioned in the piece on the Hyatt Regency Rome Central, Thompson Sevilla, and Grand Hyatt Grand Cayman Resort & Spa – I think it’s still worthwhile securing a reservation now, under the hopes that if Hyatt/the hotel reaches out to inform you of a necessary change, they’ll hopefully honor your pre-devaluation rates at a later time.
