tl;dr – Viewers will see a lot of France this season.

The other day, I wrote that Paris’s Mandarin Oriental Lutetia would be featured in Season 4 of The White Lotus. Recently, HBO confirmed two other prominent hotels as filming locations – the Hôtel Martinez, part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, and the Airelles Chateau de la Messardiere, part of the Airelles Collection – the ultra-luxe boutique chain with just 9 properties.

I’ve never stayed at either of these properties, though for a second I did consider making a pre-devaluation Globalist points advance booking at the Hôtel Martinez for a stay sometime in 2027.

Both properties have some interesting wine roots. Opened in 1928, the Hôtel Martinez would eventually come under the ownership of the Taittinger Group in 1981, of the famed Champagne house.

It was sold again in 2012 and joined World of Hyatt in 2013. The Airelles Chateau de la Messardiere was built at the end of the 19th century by a brandy merchant by the name of Gabriel Dupuy d’Angeac.

Both properties are located along the French Riviera, with the Airelles Chateau de la Messardiere over in St. Tropez and the Hôtel Martinez in Cannes.

All this is further confirmation that the famous film festival will serve as the backdrop for the upcoming season.
